One Third of Home Searches Made Using Mobiles

Mobile technology is changing the face of online house hunting with a third of all home searches now being made using a mobile devices such as a phone or tablet.

Recent figures from home selling giant Rightmove shows that the figure has risen from around a quarter of all searches being made on a mobile platform at the end of last year – a figure that industry expert can only see increasing due to the growing popularity of gadgets.

Android phones, iPhones, iPads and other tablets are just some of the well known devices where home searches are originating, with new launches such as the Microsoft surface likely to add to the trend.

Changing Home Buyer Behaviour

The figures also reveal a change in buyer behaviour – with home searches fast becoming a favoured way of whiling away quiet moments when out and about.

The news means that estate agents and home sellers will need ensure that their chosen marketing methods (such as listings, virtual tours and interactive floor plans) are compatible with multiple platforms in order to be sure of reaching all audiences.

Selling Homes to the Mobile Audience

Photoplan managing director Ben Gutierrez said: “Moving with the times is key to retaining a market share when it comes to the online audience.

“When commissioning any property marketing materials, agents and sellers should be sure to ascertain which platforms they are compatible so they can make sure they have all bases covered.”
